Anti-drug awareness events held in villages under Dr Gosal’s leadership
Ferozepur, July 19, 2025: A series of awareness events were organised under the leadership of Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal, Coordinator, Anti-Drug Front, Ferozepur Urban Constituency, as part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The objective of these initiatives is to ensure public participation and to garner community support in the fight to eradicate drugs from Punjab.
Dr. Gosal, while addressing gatherings at villages Madhre and Kot Bhai Saudagar Singh during the Nasha Mukti Yatra (Anti-Drug Awareness March), highlighted the government's determined action against drug traffickers and the rehabilitation efforts for those already ensnared in addiction. She emphasised that the present state government is making exemplary efforts to cleanse Punjab of the drug menace—a problem that was largely ignored by previous governments, which allowed drug networks to flourish and trap the youth.
She informed the villagers that such awareness rallies are being conducted across the district to motivate people to actively support the government’s efforts. Dr. Gosal appealed to the public to play an active role in this movement, asserting that Punjab will only become drug-free if everyone joins hands in this fight.
Highlighting the government’s rehabilitation efforts, she mentioned that victims of drug abuse are being provided treatment at de-addiction centres, after which skill-based courses and employment opportunities are being offered to help them reintegrate into society and lead a purposeful life, steering clear of relapse.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were DSP Sukhwinder Singh, Block Presidents Sharanjit Singh, Surjit Singh, Manpreet Singh, Harmeet Singh Khai, Nishan Singh (Sarpanch, Khai), Sukhwinder Singh (Sarpanch), Sukhdev Singh (Sarpanch), Block President Gagandeep Singh, and Davinder Singh Tona.
