RPF-CIB crackdown in Ferozepur: 6 held for Railway property theft, attack on staff
Ferozepur, July 20, 2025: In a joint operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) have arrested six accused, including two scrap dealers, in connection with the theft of railway property and an attack on staff on duty. A large quantity of stolen railway material, including 80 meters of underframe wire, has been recovered from their possession.
The case was originally registered on July 15, 2025, at the Outer Police Post, Ferozepur City under FIR No. 07/25, under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act and at GRP Ferozepur under FIR No. 24/2025 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused were charged with theft of railway property and attacking staff on duty with a knife before fleeing the scene.
On July 17, 2025, the RPF and CIB teams arrested Rinku Kumar (25), son of Darshan Lal, resident of Mohalla Valmiki, Guru Har Sahai, and currently living in Ferozepur City, and Bobby (21), son of Joginder, resident of Awa Basti, Ferozepur City. From their possession, 40 meters of 50mm underframe wire worth ₹9,000 was recovered. Both were produced before the ACJM/Ferozepur court and were sent to 14 days of judicial custody after medical examination.
Following their interrogation, two more accused involved in the theft, Rikki alias Lucky Bhoot (21) and Ravikant alias Sajan (17), were arrested. Ravikant, being a minor, has been kept in RPF custody as per legal guidelines.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two scrap dealers, Satish Kumar (54), resident of New Abadi, Zira Gate, Ferozepur, and Lokesh (22), resident of Ghumar Mandi, Ferozepur Cantt. From them, police recovered 40+24 meters of 50mm wire, 80 meters of 16mm wire, and 50 meters of 4mm underframe wire, collectively worth ₹26,500.
On July 19, 2025, all four additional accused were presented before the ACJM/Ferozepur court and were also remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
