Amritsar (Punjab), July 20, 2025: Following a series of threatening emails targeting the revered Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), a fresh threat has now been issued to Guru Nanak Jhira Sahib in Bidar, Karnataka. The email has sparked concern among the Sikh community and the broader public.
Singh Sahib Jathedar Baba Balbir Singh Akali 96 Crore, head of the Nihang Singhs' apex organization, Shiromani Panth Akali Buddha Dal Fifth Takht, strongly condemned the threats.
Speaking to the media, he stated that the attempt to instill fear by threatening to bomb two of the most sacred Sikh shrines is a deliberate act of terror meant to disturb communal harmony.
He said, “These threats are being issued by anti-social elements with sick mentalities. These people are not just miscreants — they are terrorists, and their goal is to spread panic and fear.”
Baba Balbir Singh emphasized the urgent need for both state and central governments to take swift and decisive action.
He called for the authorities to investigate whether the recent arrest in connection with previous threat emails is linked to a larger network. He further urged the national media to cover this issue responsibly and proactively, so that the seriousness of the matter is not ignored or downplayed.
The Jathedar concluded by saying that the faithful will not be shaken by such cowardly threats, but the government must act to ensure the safety of religious institutions and communal peace across the nation.
