Chandigarh, July 20, 2025: A joint meeting organized by the Joint Coordination Committee of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Ward No. 23 took place today at the Community Centre in Sector 43, Chandigarh.
Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Manish Tewari attended the gathering as the chief guest, while area Councillor Smt. Premlata was the special guest.
The meeting drew a large number of local residents, especially youth, who actively voiced their concerns.Addressing these issues, MP Tewari strongly criticized the rising electricity bills and fixed charges, calling them “unjustified.”
He emphasized that since the electricity company has not made any significant infrastructure improvements, there is no valid reason to burden the public with increased charges.
He assured that these concerns will be taken up in the upcoming Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) meeting on July 25.
Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky praised Tewari’s continued efforts, describing him as a committed and aware leader who not only effectively utilizes his MP funds for local development but also consistently raises public issues in Parliament.
The event began with a welcome note by Rajesh Rai, President of the Sector 43-B RWA. On this occasion, MP Tewari also honored senior citizens of the ward with mementos as a gesture of respect.
Prominent attendees included Chandigarh Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Bunti, Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta, Councillor Hardeep Singh, AAP Chandigarh President Vijay Paul Singh, former Councillor Chandermukhi Sharma, CRAWFED President Hitesh Puri, FOSWAC President Brijendra Singh Bittu, along with Naresh Salwan, Jaswinder Singh, Narendra Chaudhary, and hundreds of local residents.
