Tarn Taran (Punjab), July 20, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal has officially announced Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, head of the Azad Group, as the party's candidate for the upcoming Tarn Taran Vidhan Sabha by-election.
In a major political development, the entire Azad Group, including 43 sitting Sarpanches, 8 Municipal Councillors, and several former Sarpanches and Chairmen, has joined the SAD.

Sukhbir Badal extended a warm welcome to the group and expressed confidence that their inclusion would further strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in the region.
Addressing a massive public rally at Jhabal village, Badal congratulated both the Azad Group and SAD workers for the show of strength, calling it a solid foundation for the party’s victory in the upcoming bypoll.

Senior Akali leader S. Gulzar Singh Ranike has been appointed as the campaign in-charge for the Tarn Taran by-election.Launching a sharp attack on political rivals, Badal appealed to the people of Punjab to rally behind the Shiromani Akali Dal to “teach a befitting lesson” to the Aam Aadmi Party, which he accused of looting Punjab, and to the Congress party, which he alleged has “disrespected our sacred religious sites.”

“This election is not just about development; it is about protecting Punjab’s honour, traditions, and identity,” Badal asserted.
