SCF pays tribute to 114-year-old Olmpian Fouja Singh; raises civil and railway issues

Ferozepur, July 20, 2025: A meeting of the Senior Citizen Forum (SCF) was held today under the leadership of Pradeep Dhawan. During the meeting, members expressed serious concerns over the poor condition of city roads, the need for filling potholes, and the improvement of the sewerage system. The forum also discussed the issue of stray animals and dogs roaming the streets without proper care.
All members also expressed deep grief over the tragic death of India's great runner and Olympic legend Fauja Singh, who passed away at the age of 114 in a road accident. Tributes were paid to the departed soul.
The members further demanded that the weekly trains from Ferozepur to Haridwar and Shri Hazur Sahib Nanded (Maharashtra) be operated twice a week instead of once. They also pressed for extending the routes of the New Delhi-Moga Intercity and New Delhi-Bathinda trains up to Ferozepur Cantt.
It was decided that a delegation of the Forum will soon meet the concerned railway authorities to raise these demands formally. Besides, efforts will be made to meet senior officers regarding the sewerage system improvements.
On this occasion, Shri, Pardeep Dhawan, Satish Puri, Mohinder Singh Dhaliwal, Rakesh Sharma, Surinder Beri, Dr. Surinder Singh, Dr. Gurdev Singh Mittal, Tilak Raj Airi, Avtar Singh Bhola, Prem Chand Baldev Sachdeva, Charanjit Mahajan, Sham Lal Gakhar, Harish Monga Yoginder Kakar, Parvesh Kumar Gatinder Kamal etc. addressed the gathering.
