Amritsar (Punjab), July 26, 2025: In a heartfelt message marked by humility and deep reverence, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains has issued a public apology and expressed his unwavering submission to the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, following controversy surrounding a recent event held in Srinagar to commemorate the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
Organized by the Language Department of Punjab, the event aimed to honor the life and sacrifice of the Ninth Guru, often hailed as the Messiah of human conscience and freedom.
The gathering featured renowned intellectuals and scholars, along with popular Sikh devotional singer Bir Singh, who has previously sung the revered "Salok Mahala 9" in deep devotion. However, due to an unintentional oversight by the organizers, certain elements of the program reportedly hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
In light of the complaints, Sri Akal Takht Sahib summoned Harjot Singh Bains, holding him morally accountable as both a Sikh and a government representative.
Responding with humility, Bains said,"Blessed, blessed is the Liberator of the Captives, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, before whose created True Throne, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, every Sikh bows their head with reverence. I am a modest Sikh devoted to Sri Akal Takht Sahib with every fiber of my being."
Accepting full moral responsibility, he further added:"This servant, accepting every command of the True Throne of the Sixth Sovereign, with a joyful heart, will present himself barefoot at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and obey every forthcoming command."
