500 students participate in Border MUN held over 'Kargil to Sindoor' theme
Ferozepur, July 26, 2025: For the first time in Ferozepur’s history, a Border Model United Nations (MUN) conference was held, organised by the DCM Group of Schools as part of its 80th-anniversary celebrations. The two-day event, themed “Kargil to Sindoor,” aimed to discuss diplomacy, military valour, and global politics, with special focus on India’s armed forces and national security.
Over 500 student delegates from border districts, including Amritsar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Moga, participated, representing various world leaders and engaging in detailed deliberations on topics such as the Kargil victory and Operation Sindoor.
The inauguration took place at the Vishnu Bhagwan Rai Bahadur Auditorium with a lamp-lighting ceremony and a cultural performance by students, followed by a detailed briefing by Chief Advisor Ajka Khan. He emphasised the significance of organising an event of such magnitude in a border district.
DCM spokesperson Vikramaditya Sharma stated that students from Classes 8 to 12 formed the participant base. Executive Board members, Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons, and Rapporteurs were formally introduced during the opening session. Dr. Ragini Gupta, Senior Director of the DCM Group, officially launched the event.
Deputy Head of Activities, Stuti, shared that seven committees were formed for the smooth conduct of the M.U.N. - United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Human Rights Council, World Health Organisation, Economic and Social Council, Lok Sabha, and Joint Crisis Committee.
Each committee was assigned a specific agenda, allowing delegates to act as representatives of various countries and leaders. Notable personalities represented included Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Sonia Gandhi, Donald Trump (USA), Anura Kumara Dissanayake (Sri Lanka), Dr. Syed Abbas (Iran), and Munir Ali (Pakistan), among others.
Through debates and discussions, students explored issues of global diplomacy, India’s defence capabilities, the valour of Indian forces during Kargil, indigenous defence manufacturing, and the significance of Operation Sindoor. The platform enabled participants to develop leadership qualities and gain deeper insight into international affairs.
