New Delhi, August 8, 2025: In a shocking incident from Delhi’s Pitampura area, a couple was allegedly denied entry to a restaurant because of their clothing. The couple claims they were stopped for wearing a suit-salwar and pants with a T-shirt, and were told that only people in “short clothes” were being allowed inside.
The incident, which took place on August 3, came to light after a video of the couple’s account went viral on social media. In the clip, they allege the refusal was based on their wearing “ethnic” attire.

Another person in the video questioned whether Delhi’s Chief Minister or the President of India would also be barred if they came dressed in a suit-salwar.
The controversy prompted swift action from the Delhi government. Law and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra called the incident “unacceptable” in a tweet, stating that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had taken serious note of the matter and directed officials to investigate and take immediate action.
The viral video has triggered a nationwide debate over discrimination based on clothing, with many calling for stricter regulations to prevent such incidents.
