Ferozepur, August 8, 2025: Under the ongoing 'War Against Drugs' campaign, a series of awareness programs were organized across various wards of Ferozepur city. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal, Coordinator of the Drug-Free Front for the Ferozepur City Assembly constituency and wife of MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar, led the initiative to sensitize residents of wards 10 to 14, 17, 26, and 29 about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Amandeep Kaur emphasized that the campaign, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, can only succeed with the collective support of all sections of society. She urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on education and sports to achieve success in life. Parents were also advised to monitor their children's company and social circle to prevent them from falling into bad influences.
Dr. Kaur highlighted that the Punjab Government has declared a decisive War Against Drugs to protect the future of the state's children and youth. She added that substantial reforms have also been made in the fields of education and sports to provide better opportunities for young people.
Stressing on a compassionate approach, she called for motivating drug-affected individuals to seek treatment and rehabilitation at government-run de-addiction centres so they can rejoin mainstream society with dignity. She appealed to citizens to actively participate in the anti-drug movement and support the government’s efforts. “This social evil can be eradicated not just through administrative action, but through social awareness and collective efforts,” she said.
