Chandigarh, September 11, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday set an example of leadership by action, joining citizens in the Mega Swachhata Abhiyan at Sohna Chowk and Sector 52, Gurugram. With broom in hand, he cleaned alongside Swachhata Mitras and urged people to embrace cleanliness as a way of life.
Highlighting Gurugram’s achievement of ranking number one in cleanliness, CM Saini credited the milestone to effective administration and active public participation. Under the theme “Mera Gurugram – Swachh Gurugram”, he called for collective efforts to build a clean, green, and healthier city.
“Cleanliness is the foundation of a healthy life. Every citizen must make it a continuous habit, not just a campaign,” the Chief Minister said, assuring full government support in transforming Gurugram into a model city. He also announced that with the monsoon ending, development works in the district will be fast-tracked, directly benefiting residents.
The CM underlined the 11-week special campaign focused on beautification and upgradation of urban areas, with city rankings to follow. He further announced the launch of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ in Haryana from September 17 (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday) to October 2, featuring cleanliness drives, plantation, health camps, and sports awareness activities.
MLA Mukesh Sharma emphasized that the drive is not just a one-day event but a sustained people’s movement, while Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar and other senior officials also joined the campaign.
The event witnessed active participation from religious and social organizations, RWAs, trader bodies, and citizens, reinforcing the message that Swachhata is a shared responsibility and must become a mindset, not just a mission.
