AIMS Mohali welcomes its fifth batch of MBBS students on Punjab Day

Mohali (Punjab), November 1, 2025: The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali, celebrated Punjab Day with pride as it welcomed its fifth batch of 100 MBBS students through a dignified White Coat Ceremony—a symbolic event marking the beginning of their medical journey.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar Rahul, IAS, encouraged the new students to champion preventive healthcare and remain vigilant about the rising tide of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He reminded them that modern medicine must focus not just on curing illness but on promoting wellness.
Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal, congratulated the students and explained that the white coat represents compassion, humility, and integrity. She urged the new entrants to embody the institute’s guiding motto—Humanity, Service, and Equality—through their actions and service.
Dr. R. P. Singh Sibia, Director Principal, Government Medical College Patiala, paid tribute to the parents’ dedication, noting the sacrifices made during their children’s NEET preparation. He advised the students to stay lifelong learners in an ever-evolving field like medicine.
Dr. Avnish Kumar, Director Research and Medical Education, described the ceremony as a transformative moment, signifying the students’ formal entry into the noble medical profession and their commitment to empathy, discipline, and professionalism.
A heartfelt highlight of the event was the participation of grandparents as special guests, whose joy and pride lent the ceremony a deeply emotional and memorable touch.
The event concluded with students donning their white coats and solemnly reciting the Charak Shapath, pledging to serve humanity with compassion and integrity. Dr. Supriya, In-charge of the Foundation Course Committee, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, parents, and guests for making the day a memorable milestone in AIMS Mohali’s journey.
