Chandigarh, November 12, 2025: Under the directions of Health and Family Welfare Minister Arti Singh Rao, the weekly meeting of the State Task Force (STF) for Improving Sex Ratio in Haryana was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Virender Yadav, Director, Health Services, Haryana. The meeting focused on intensifying measures to curb illegal abortions and sustain progress under the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign.
Officials informed that Haryana recorded a sex ratio of 912 (female births per 1,000 males) from January 1 to November 10, 2025 — a notable rise from 904 during the same period last year.
Dr. Yadav directed strict enforcement actions against those involved in sex-selective practices, instructing authorities to revoke the licences of doctors found complicit. The SMO of CHC Gopi in Charkhi Dadri has been charge-sheeted for poor sex ratio performance, while SMOs of Naraingarh, Mullana, and Chaurmastpur, along with CMOs of Palwal, Charkhi Dadri, Sirsa, and Sonipat, have received show-cause notices.
He further instructed officials to launch special drives to register all unregistered female children below one year of age, especially in districts showing a declining trend. The CRS portal data will also be aligned with actual delivery records to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Calling for stronger legal action, Dr. Yadav asked district teams to improve conviction rates in pending illegal abortion cases and to file fresh appeals where necessary.
The meeting also reviewed district-wise performance, highlighting Fatehabad, Gurugram, Panchkula, Panipat, and Rewari as districts showing significant improvement, while Sirsa, Sonipat, and Charkhi Dadri were directed to step up vigilance and inspection of ultrasound centres.
Dr. Yadav urged departments to strengthen community awareness campaigns, involve anganwadi and ASHA workers, and promote institutional deliveries and early child registration to ensure every girl child is counted and protected.
