Police arrest drug peddler, recover 2.042 kg heroin in ongoing -War Against Drugs’
Ferozepur, November 14, 2025: Under the ongoing state-wide campaign against drug trafficking, Ferozepur Police have achieved a major success by arresting one drug peddler and recovering 2 kg 42 g of heroin during a special operation conducted under the NDPS Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, informed that Punjab Police, under the leadership of DGP Gaurav Yadav, continues to take strict action against drug smugglers, gangsters, and anti-social elements. As part of these operations, Ferozepur Police teams have been carrying out intensive searches and surveillance across the district.
Providing details, DSP Zira, Jaspal Singh Dhillon said that the Makhu police team, led by SHO Makhu Jagdeep Singh, was conducting routine checking near the TT point area when they stopped a suspicious individual. Upon questioning, the suspect tried to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was identified as Vijay Singh (21), resident of Village Jalalwala (Ferozepur).
During the search, police recovered 2.042 kg of heroin from his possession. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, Section 188, at the Police Station Makhu on 13.11.2025.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused was allegedly involved in drug trafficking and brought the consignment from Chheharta Road, Amritsar, from a known supplier.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify the source of the heroin and to trace the network linked to the accused, by taking him on remand. More arrests and important information are likely to be revealed, officers added.
