MEA’s Protector of Emigrants reviews proposed PDOT Centre in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 14, 2025: Yashudeep Singh, IFS, Deputy Secretary and Protector of Emigrants, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, visited the District Employment and Business Bureau, Ferozepur, on Thursday. He was welcomed by Rajbir Singh, PCS (UT), on behalf of the district administration.
The primary purpose of his visit was to inspect the bureau for establishing a PDOT (Pre-Departure Orientation Training) Centre in Ferozepur under the MEA’s flagship programme. He informed that the PDOT initiative aims to provide eight hours of free training to candidates travelling abroad for employment, in line with the MEA’s motto: “Surakshit Jaayen, Prashikshit Jaayen, Vishwas Ke Saath Jaayen.”
The training will cover crucial topics such as identifying legal and illegal agents, legitimate procedures for overseas migration, dos and don’ts before travelling abroad, local laws in destination countries, workers’ rights, welfare schemes, and ways to seek assistance from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
He emphasised that the programme is designed to protect aspirants from fraud and guide them on safe and legal migration practices. After reviewing the infrastructure, he approved the opening of the PDOT Centre and advised the District Employment Officer to enhance related activities.
Rajbir Singh assured full support from the district administration for this initiative of the Government of India. District Employment Officer Dilbag Singh also assured that once the centre becomes operational, efforts will be intensified to take this programme to the village level with complete dedication.
Placement Officer-cum-Master Trainer Gurjant Singh and District Skill Manager Sarabjit Singh were also present during the visit.
