Paddy lifting crosses 150 LMT in Punjab despite flood challenges

Chandigarh, November 18,2025: Punjab has achieved a major milestone this procurement season, with paddy lifting crossing the 150 Lakh Metric Tonne (LMT) mark — a significant accomplishment considering the disruptions caused by recent floods in the state.
The state’s foolproof and resilient mandi infrastructure ensured that both arrival and procurement had already surpassed the 150 LMT milestone earlier, and lifting has now followed suit.
Driven by the proactive governance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state ensured a smooth and efficient procurement season. As of November 17, more than 11 lakh farmers have received benefits under the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Under the supervision of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, procurement, lifting and payment processes are running at full pace. Patiala district leads the state with 96,920 farmers receiving MSP payments so far.
Till November 17 evening, Punjab mandis recorded an arrival of 1,56,44,022.7 MT of paddy, of which 99% (1,56,30,983.39 MT) has been procured. Lifting has reached 1,50,24,082.31 MT, marking 96% of total procurement.
The state government has also disbursed over ₹36,000 crore to farmers, ensuring timely payments and reinforcing its commitment to supporting the agricultural community.
