Canal Tragedy Reversed: Missing Girl Found Alive, Says Mother Instigated the Act

In an astonishing turn of events, the Ferozepur girl who was believed to have been killed after her father allegedly threw her into a canal nearly three months ago has been found alive. Her reappearance has overturned the initial assumptions and brought forward a startling story of survival.
The case gained widespread attention after a viral video surfaced showing her father, Surjeet, tying her hands with a chunni and pushing her into the canal near village Khalilwala on the night of September 30. As the video spread rapidly, public outrage grew, and the police launched an extensive search for her body. Surjeet was arrested on Thursday following the registration of an FIR.
According to SSP Bhupendra Singh Sidhu, the police became aware of the girl’s survival only through the news video statements, as she has not contacted the authorities directly. The matter is now under detailed investigation.
Appearing before a section of the social media, the girl narrated the terrifying incident. She said that after being pushed into the canal, the chunni slipped off, freeing her hands. She managed to cling to an iron rod near the canal’s edge and pull herself out. Exhausted and drenched, she walked along the canal bank until a woman riding a scooter stopped to help her, offering a shawl and phone assistance.
In a shocking accusation, the girl claimed her mother had instigated the act and that her father—under the influence of intoxicants—was emotionally manipulated into taking the extreme step. She added that she now intends to pursue legal support to secure her father’s release, adding a new twist to the already complex case.
Police continue to reassess the charges in light of the new revelations.
