Main Hoon Punjab: A grand cultural celebration in Ferozepur
Brigadier Yadav urges students to uphold Punjab’s courage, culture, and values
Ferozepur, December 9, 2025: Delhi Public School recently hosted a magnificent cultural evening titled “Main Hoon Punjab” to celebrate its glorious 10 years of excellence. The event stirred deep emotions of pride and connected the audience to the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of Punjab.
The program was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Brigadier Rahul Yadav (Commandant, 159 General Hospital), school director Mr. Surinder Pal Sooch, Mrs. Anu Ahuja, founder principal Mrs. Iqvinder Singh, Dr. Rakesh Sachdeva, and the current principal Dr. Lata Tejpal. During the function, the school also unveiled a commemorative souvenir, "Dashak Diary," highlighting its decade-long achievements.
In his address, Brigadier Rahul Yadav inspired students to stay rooted in their land, traditions, and culture. He praised Punjab’s soul as being defined by courage, sacrifice, and values—an inheritance that future generations must preserve. The event was elegantly hosted by senior students from classes 11 and 12, with cherish Dhingra, Japneet, and Japji presenting a detailed report on the school's accomplishments, and Rajnandini expressing gratitude to guests and the audience.
The theme “Main Hoon Punjab” brought to life Punjab's rich, millennia-old civilization and proud history. The program traced historical narratives from the Indus Valley Civilization, Vedic era, and Punjab’s connections to the Ramayana and Mahabharata, to the heroism of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, sacrifices of Bhagat Singh and comrades, Punjab’s role in the freedom struggle, the trauma of Partition in 1947, pains of 1984, recent natural disasters, and the unyielding resilience shown through all hardships.

The school campus was beautifully decorated in tune with the theme, with displays of Punjabi culture from the entry gate through to the stage. Teachers and staff, including the principal, wore “Main Hoon Punjab” badges, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with Punjabi pride. A themed selfie corner attracted great interest among attendees.
The script was meticulously created based on historical research, with significant contributions from Mrs. Anju Chopra, Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, Mr. Gagandeep Sharma, vice-principal Mrs. Mamta Thakkar, and activity coordinator Mrs. Shardip Kaur. Students from pre-nursery through ninth grade participated with full enthusiasm, showcasing performances such as butterfly dance, balloon dance, Bhangra, Jhoomar, and dramatic presentations on Ramayana, Mahabharata, Ashoka, Chanakya, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The storytelling beautifully linked each act to Punjab, making the entire program feel like a vibrant cinematic experience. The hall echoed with applause throughout.
Principal Dr. Lata Tejpal deserves special credit for the event’s success. Her leadership, vision, and encouragement, coupled with excellent teamwork, made this cultural evening a historic achievement. She expressed gratitude to the organizers and said, “Main Hoon Punjab is not just a cultural display; it is a solemn pledge to connect with our roots, heritage, and culture.” The evening left a profound impact on all who attended, celebrating Punjab’s enduring legacy with heartfelt passion.
