Chandigarh, December 30, 2025: In a major development during the special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the House on Monday formally passed a resolution opposing the Centre’s VB-G RAM G initiative linked to the MNREGA scheme.
The resolution was moved in the Assembly by Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh. After a prolonged debate and heated exchanges, the Assembly approved the motion, sending a strong political and constitutional message against the Centre’s decision.
The Punjab government stated that the resolution reflects the state’s opposition to what it termed an attack on the rights of poor labourers. Speaking after the resolution was passed, Minister Sondh alleged that through the “G-RAM-G” system, the Central government is deliberately creating unnecessary complications in MNREGA works to block or delay funds.
He said the resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly would now be forwarded to the Central government, demanding the immediate withdrawal of what he described as a “poor-unfriendly” move.
