SEVEN DAY CIVIL DEFENCE TRAINING CAMP
NDRF trains Civil Defence Volunteers at SBS University on 2nd day
Ferozepur, January 8, 2026: On the second day of the ongoing Training and Capacity Building of Civil Defence Workshop at Shaheed Bhagat Singh University, an expert team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) imparted practical training to volunteers. The NDRF team shared vital rescue and safety techniques to be adopted during floods, earthquakes, and other natural as well as man-made disasters.
Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence District Commandant Gurlavdeep Singh, along with Civil Defence wardens, were specially present on the occasion. Addressing the participants, Commandant Gurlavdeep Singh said history bears testimony that countries with strong civil defence systems and trained citizens suffer minimal loss of life during natural calamities. He emphasised that a trained civil defence volunteer not only ensures the safety of themselves and their family but also plays a crucial role in serving society and the nation.
Notably, the seven-day Civil Defence training camp began on Wednesday at the CV Raman Hall of Shaheed Bhagat Singh University with great enthusiasm, which was clearly visible among the volunteers throughout the workshop.
The camp was inaugurated in the presence of IAS officer Ms Lindia, who attended as Chief Guest in her capacity as Civil Defence Controller, while Divisional Commandant Home Guards Anil Paruthi was present as Special Guest. On the occasion, District Commandant Gurlavdeep Singh highlighted the history and present role of Civil Defence, while Civil Defence wardens were lauded for their commendable services during Operation Sindoor and flood relief operations.
Among others present were Civil Defence Ferozepur Chief Warden Parminder Singh Thind, Home Guards Store Superintendent Parminder Singh Bath, Company Commander Anish Gupta, Parmjit Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Platoon Commander Raj Kumar, Post Wardens Hari Ram Khindri, Rajesh Khanna, Dalbir Singh, Rajiv Wadhwa, and several sector wardens.
