All roads closed in Lahaul-Spiti due to heavy snowfall; Police issues safety advisory

Lahaul-Spiti, January 23, 2026:Amid adverse weather conditions and continuous snowfall, the Lahaul & Spiti Police have ordered the temporary closure of all roads in the district for all types of vehicular movement, officials said on Thursday.
Issuing a road closure advisory, the police urged the public to stay where they are, avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert until further notice. Authorities have strictly prohibited movement on closed roads in the interest of public safety.
“The situation is being closely monitored, and necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents and travellers,” the advisory said, adding that road conditions will be reviewed once weather improves.
