Banned China Kite string kills Class 10 student in Samrala

Samrala/Ludhiana, January 24, 2026:Despite repeated claims of strict enforcement and an official ban in Punjab, the deadly China kite string has claimed yet another innocent life, shattering a family in Samrala.
In a tragic incident near village Bhartala on the Samrala bypass, a 15-year-old student lost his life after his throat was slit by a sharp China wire while riding his motorcycle. The deceased has been identified as Taranjot Singh (15), a Class 10 student.
According to information, Taranjot was returning home from school when a China cord hanging across the road suddenly got entangled around his neck. The razor-sharp string caused a deep cut, leading to his death on the spot.
Taranjot was the only son of his parents, and his death has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village. The bereaved family is inconsolable, while villagers have expressed strong anger against the administration.
