Moga (Punjab), April 27, 2026: Sikh separatist groups have announced a series of events across India and abroad to mark the 40th anniversary of the Khalistan Declaration, with key programmes scheduled in Amritsar as well as international locations including Brussels, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.
In Punjab, various organisations, including Dal Khalsa, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Panch Pardani Jatha and the Jathedar Hawara Committee, said an Ardas will be held at Akal Takht Sahib on April 29.
A policy document outlining the future course of the Sikh sovereignty movement is also expected to be released outside the Takht Secretariat.
Addressing the media, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh said the events are being organised to commemorate April 29, 1986, when a five-member Panthic Committee, formed during the Sarbat Khalsa, issued the Khalistan Declaration within the Harmandir Sahib complex.
He said members of the Sikh diaspora will hold parallel events in Brussels and the United States on April 29, followed by programmes in Canada on May 2 and in the United Kingdom on May 3.
Singh added that the Ardas at Akal Takht Sahib will pay homage to those who lost their lives during the movement, while reiterating commitment to its political objectives.
He also stressed the need for a collective strategy among Sikhs globally, stating that the community is at a “critical juncture” and must work towards shaping its future course.
