Amritsar (Punjab), May 24, 2026: Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Sunday strongly criticised the Punjab government over the brutal murder of ASI Joga Singh, who was allegedly shot dead in broad daylight while on his way to duty in Majitha area of Amritsar.
In a social media post, Aujla termed the incident “deeply saddening and condemnable” and questioned the deteriorating law and order situation under the AAP-led Punjab government.
The Congress MP said the situation in Punjab has become so alarming that even police personnel are no longer safe. He stated that if law enforcement officers are being killed openly in daylight, common citizens would naturally feel insecure.
Aujla further alleged that incidents of murder, gangsterism, looting and violent crime are steadily rising across the state, while the government’s claims of a “Colourful Punjab” remain confined to advertisements and publicity campaigns.
Calling the present situation in Punjab “serious and worrying,” the MP demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing and sought strict punishment for the accused. He also urged the government to take concrete steps to restore law and order in the state.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Aujla prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
