Chandigarh, June 9, 2026: Senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) have launched a sharp attack on former party leader Manpreet Singh Ayali, alleging that his decision to join Waris Punjab De amounts to abandoning the responsibility entrusted to him by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Addressing the media, party Secretary General Gurpratap Singh Wadala and Core Committee member Sucha Singh Chhotepur said Ayali was part of the five-member committee constituted by the Sikh clergy to strengthen the Panthic platform established on December 2, 2024. They claimed that the revived Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) emerged through the enrolment drive carried out by this committee.
The leaders alleged that Ayali had been seeking to be projected as the party’s chief ministerial face and gradually distanced himself from organisational activities after his demand was not accepted. They further claimed that despite being assigned key responsibilities, including serving as convener of the party’s coordination committee, he failed to perform assigned duties and did not actively participate in efforts aimed at Panthic unity.
Wadala and Chhotepur also accused Ayali of levelling baseless allegations against the party after leaving its fold and joining Waris Punjab De. They alleged that his actions were politically motivated and designed to weaken ongoing efforts to unite Panthic forces in Punjab.
Reiterating the party’s commitment to Panthic unity, the leaders said party president Giani Harpreet Singh and the senior leadership remain committed to strengthening Sikh unity despite recent political developments.
