MP Ganesh Singh highlights Centre’s OBC empowerment measures at SBI Employees’ conference in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, July 12, 2026: Lok Sabha MP Ganesh Singh highlighted the Central Government’s initiatives aimed at the welfare and empowerment of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) while addressing the conference and second triennial general meeting of the State Bank of India OBC Employees Welfare Association, Chandigarh Circle, held at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18 on Saturday.
Addressing employees and association members, Singh outlined several key measures undertaken by the Narendra Modi-led government between 2014 and 2025 to strengthen the social, educational and economic status of OBC communities.

He said the Centre had granted constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), introduced 27 per cent reservation for OBC candidates under the All India Quota in medical admissions, expanded reservation provisions in central educational institutions, and launched the PM-DAKSH skill development programme to enhance employment opportunities.
The MP also highlighted financial assistance extended through the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) and referred to the Department of Personnel and Training’s (DoPT) efforts to simplify the process of obtaining OBC certificates.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to social justice and inclusive development, Singh said the various policy initiatives were aimed at ensuring greater educational, economic and employment opportunities for members of the OBC community.
