Controversy erupts after Bittu posts selective militancy era videos, BJP, Congress leaders urge him to show restraint

Chandigarh, July 13, 2026: Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has again landed in another controversy. This time he has posted selective videos from militancy era of Punjab.
Former Minister and Senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia has advised Bittu to show restraint and said that Punjab needs to remember that even during dark era, state never witnessed communal riots not even during peak of 1984 riots. He said that videos posted by Bittu are not in right direction. He said that we need to bury our past and move ahead.
National Minorities Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura said that "Everybody should stay within their limit. When Jaswant Khalra spoke about the disappearances of 25,000 people, he gave a message. He said that the claim was verified by the National Human Rights Commission. He said that If Bittu Sahib wants the data, he can seek it from the NHRC.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Pargat Singh said that BJP is hell bent on disturbing hard earned peace of Punjab. He said that Bittu is purely working on sole agenda of polarisation of votes.
