Old suspected bomb unearthed from farmer's field near Hussainiwala Border in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, July 13, 2026: A suspected old bomb-like object was unearthed from a farmer's field near the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur district on Sunday, triggering a swift response from the Punjab Police and the Army.
According to information, the object was discovered during excavation work in the fields at Chughe Hazara Singh Dhani, close to the Hussainiwala border. Labourers engaged in the work noticed the suspicious object and immediately informed the landowner, who alerted the police and the Army.
Army and police personnel rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area, and secured the object. Preliminary examination suggested that it was an old bomb, believed to have remained buried underground for several decades, possibly dating back to past military conflicts in the border region.
Gurvinder Singh, the farmer, said the object was found at around 10:45 a.m. while a JCB machine was levelling the land. "The labourers noticed a bomb-like object during excavation. We immediately informed the Army, which reached the spot and took control of the situation," he said.
Dharmveer Singh, SP(H) confirmed that the suspicious object appeared to be an old bomb. "After receiving information, the local police reached the site, secured the area, and informed the Army's Bomb Disposal Squad. It appears to be a very old explosive, likely from the period of earlier wars. The Army has taken possession of it and will dispose of it safely as per standard operating procedures," the official said.
Authorities said there is no immediate threat to the public, and the area remains under security while further examination is carried out. Investigation into the matter is continuing.
