Health Dept raids illegal Noodles Unit in Ferozepur; Factory sealed over gross hygiene violations
Ferozepur, August 6, 2026: In a major crackdown on unsafe food manufacturing, the Health Department raided an alleged noodles manufacturing unit operating from a private colony on the Ferozepur-Moga Road following a tip-off. The inspection exposed shocking sanitary conditions, prompting the department to initiate proceedings to seal the unit.
During the raid, the inspection team found that the factory was operating without a valid Food Safety licence. Officials also discovered serious violations of food safety and hygiene norms. Noodles and other food items were allegedly being prepared in filthy surroundings, with a large number of flies and mosquitoes inside the premises. The manufacturing area was located adjacent to a toilet, posing a serious risk to public health. The team also recovered a few empty liquor bottles from the premises.
Food Safety Officer Abhinav Khosla said the raid was conducted on the basis of confidential information. Samples of noodles and other food products were collected and sent for laboratory analysis, while food items found unfit for consumption were destroyed on the spot, to avoid its misuse.
He stated that the unit neither possessed a valid licence nor complied with mandatory food safety regulations. Consequently, the department has initiated the process of sealing the factory and has begun legal proceedings against those responsible.
The Health Department has also launched a detailed investigation to ascertain how the alleged manufacturing unit continued to operate for such a long period without the required licence and in blatant violation of food safety norms. However, further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation. On asking about the seizure of sub standard cheese at Guruharsahai, he said, the report has been received and action as per the law has been initiated. Regarding the raid at the store in Ferozepur, the report is still awaited.
