Anjali Bhawra along with Deepti Uppal
Kapurthala: 30 September, 2016: Kapurthala city will be developed as a big tourism centre. This was declared by Anjali Bhawra IAS, Principal Secretary Tourism, during her visit to Kapurthala city on Friday. She was on a official tour to inspect and go through the various works going on for the renovation of heritage buildings.
She was accompanied by Deepti Uppal IAS Additional deputy commissioner along with other officials.
The City of Kapurthala has several historic sites and places of interest linked to its local history such as Moorish Mosque, Darbar hall, Gole Kothi, Baggi Khana and Bhoot Bangla. She visited the entire ancient monuments and heritage buildings.
Anjali Bhawra said “Steps are being taken for the maintenance and conservation of the ancient monuments and historic buildings”. Rs 4.42 crore is being spent for the beautification of Moorish Masjid, whereas, Rs 4.98 crore is earmarked for renovation of Darbar hall added Anjali Bhawra.
Anjali Bhawra added “We have deputed a team of engineers along with 50 expert labourers, who are working on to give the ancient outlooks to the Moorish Mosque”. This work is likely to be completed by the end of November 2016.
She further said “The renovation work on the Darbar hall is also going on fast track and it will be completed in time”.
We are preparing a report for the renovation works of Gole Kothi, Baggi Khana & Bhoot Bangla. The work will be started as soon as the matter is approved by the department said Anjali Bhawra. (amritbrar2012@gmail.com)
