Read: What Punjab cop says on his alleged links with slain gangster Gounder
Chandigarh, January 29, 2018: Punjab police Inspector posted in Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) Bikram Brar on Monday termed as baseless and absurd the allegations linking him with slain gangster Vicky Gounder.
The allegations were leveled by a person claiming to be maternal uncle of Gounder after his killing in the encounter with the Punjab police on January 26 while he was on the run for 16 months since his sensational escape from Nabha jail.
“There is no truth at all in the allegation that the encounter was fake and that I had called Gounder to the place where he was killed. I never knew him personally. Moreover, I never studied at Jalandhar and and have no connection whatsoever with Sports College there,” Brar told babushahi.com.
Highly surprised over the allegations, Brar said he was 10 years older than Gounder so how come both could be classmates.
Brar had led led the police operation in which Gounder and close aides Prema Lahoria and Sukhpreet Singh were killed.
The said maternal uncle of Gounder had alleged at the cremation of Gounder at his native village Sarawan Bodla n Sunday that Brar and Gounder were in negotiations over the latter’s willingness to surrender before the police. But he was trapped and killed in a fake encounter, it was alleged.
Notably, Inspector Brar hails from Bathinda. His father Baldev Singh Brar was also a police officer who was killed by militants during the days of extremism in Punjab.
