The Akali Dal (Badal) has opened its front by organizing the ‘Pol-Khol Rallies’ in the state against the Congress government which came to power about a year back after a decade.
At the very outset, Capt Amarinder Singh has made number of promises with the voters of Punjab at the time of Assembly elections 2017 and among those, the major one was – waiving off of loan of farmers, employment to unemployed youths, smartphones to youths, employment allowance, hike in pension and regularization of contract or temporary employees.
Even after completion of one year’s, said to be a honeymoon period, the Congress government had made provision of 50 reservation of women in local bodies, waived loans partially, abolished truck unions, so-called VIP culture, halqa in charge system, DSP jurisdiction with halqa, revived hierarchical system in civil and police administration. Not only this the Congress government have successfully completed the purchase of two crops smoothly as compared to Badal government and raised the crop damage amount from Rs.8000 to Rs.12000 per acre.
Not only this, even on the drug front, the Congress government have shown intentions by setting up STF and finished a large number of gangsters, which were the production of the previous regime. Besides, it also reduced the ashtam fees for the first time in the history.
Although they have failed to encash all these achievements, yet we cannot say that they have not fulfilled any promise. Despite all these plus factors as to how can say that they have not fulfilled any promise. Perhaps, seeing the popularity of the Congress government, Akali Dal (Badal) has taken the initiative t organize the ‘Pol-Khol Rallies’ starting from Fazilka which was attended by SAD President and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Speaking at its maiden rally, Sukhbir Singh Badal had said, ‘What to say of fulfilling the poll promises, the Congress government has even stopped the Atta-Dal Scheme meant for the poor. Apart from this, old age pension, shagan scheme and scholarships of Dalit students have been stopped, which itself proves that the Congress government is anti-poor government”.
Yes, it looks that speaking so strongly and in high-pitch voice, it looks that Sukhbir Singh by speaking against the Congress government, is in fact, had tried to create his vote bank for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, as is evident from his speaking accent and gathering at the rally.
Some politics lovers when talked about this, they said, the starting of Pol-Khol Rally from Fazilka is due to the fact that during the last Assembly elections from Fazilka, Rajdeep Kaur who contested as an Independent candidate, joined the SAD at this rally. She had bagged around 38,000 votes as an Independent candidate. After the successful rally at Fazilka, there is a political storm in the area. In case we go by the view of the experts, with the induction of Rajbir Kaur, the SAD looks to have started creating the foundation atmosphere for the Lok Sabha elections because of the fact that the existing MP Sher Singh Ghubaya of SAD had given indication sometime back that he will contest the next election with the consent of his workers.
The experts are also of the view that SAD has started its first rally from the Fazilka constituency where the son of Sher Singh Ghubaya, MP – Devinder Singh Ghubaya was elected as Congress MLA.
There are hot discussions now in the political circles and Akali Dal is in a mood to land a new candidate for MP from Ferozepur. Sources said it is not like that as the rallies are being arranged in the whole of the State and next such rally is fixed for February 25 at Guruharsahai in Ferozepur.
Dear reader, it may be ‘Pol-Khol Rallies’ or preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, one thing is certain that this time, SAD is not going to field Sher Singh Ghubaya from Ferozepur and the main reason is said to be his son Davinder Singh Ghuabaya – a Congress MLA from Fazilka, which was once a part of Ferozepur district. Another reason, sources said is that Sher Singh Ghubaya had already met once or twice to the former Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal after 2017 Assembly elections.
Anyhow, let us wait till such time to see as to which way the wind blows!
