Jaswant Singh Kanwal is a living legend even at the age of 100. Kanwal was and continues to be the most popular novelist of Punjabi. He was and probably still is the only writer who paid income tax on royalty from his books.
His last book is Dhur Dargah(ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ) at the age of 98. His first book was in 1942. He has no physical ailment and his son tell me that he still enjoys one drink a day and his favourite food is gheo- shakkar and roti. He still plays chess.
My father knows him from late 50s. He came out to see us off to our car. He reads newspaper without glasses!
Another well known living legend of Punjabi fiction is Ralpal Singh Kahlon who is a novelist. Kahlon is son of Mohan Kahlon and is 85.
