The human race is soaring high with all the advanced technological achievements. We have explored our earth to its core and still doing and now we are exploring opportunities of life on other planets.
All applause to our great researchers and scientists! But one question keeps tickling my mind, why are we looking for life to thrive on other planets, when the very origin of life of humans on earth is attached with so many taboos, myths and irrelevant beliefs?
The Almighty, has bestowed this power on females to give birth and none of you can deny the fact that a woman is the creator of human life. Now, this responsibility is not as easy as it seems, it has a lot attached to it.
A life of a girl or woman is worth living because none other is blessed to regulate life cycle than females but unfortunately this life cycle is not treated as a blessing in its true form.
Those six days of a month come as a lot of stress, guilt and trouble for females because they naturally experience that they are capable of creating life. This should be taken as the utmost powerful thing which is otherwise surrounded by myths like, impure, dirty, isolation and what not?
Being a female, on behalf of every female, I can explain and describe what a female goes through during this cycle of six days. Behaving normal when your stomach is crumbling with pain, that sudden flow of blood when you're in the middle of an important meeting, the embarrassment that surrounds you when at times the red colour stains your clothes and above all doing the daily chores with a continuous blood flow and striking pain throughout your body because of this biological process.

All this trouble and discomfort is supplemented when the people around you, even your own family makes it a difficult situation where you cannot discuss your pain with them easily because of so much attached to this very phenomenon.
In cities or in urban areas, the condition of the females in this case is still better just in terms of availability of the required stuff during these crucial days but in economically poor backgrounds or interior villages, women are still bound to use those traditional ways to manage themselves during this cycle.
Many NGOs work towards this cause and are helping millions around but still have not achieved that freedom to talk about it in open and making it a topic of general discussion.
The country where you stress a lot that teenagers should be made aware of the adolescence related issues including hormonal changes, sex education, drug abuse, then why the knowledge about menstrual cycle is kept only restricted to girls and why it is not considered an issue to be discussed.
Till date boys and girls feel uncomfortable studying the topic of menstrual cycle in Science in grade 8. Are we really in 21st Century?
All other values that we as educators and educationists stress upon, this is also the most important aspect where both the genders should be taught to be free to discuss what they go through in biological terms and should be taught to become more informed individuals.
This is also one of the aspects of patriarchal society, where men are ignorant of the very essence of their survival that comes directly from the womb of a woman and what she has to go through to create one complete life!
I got a chance to listen to a talk by one of the leads from a campaign named ‘Pravahkriti’ where the members are youngsters and they are working towards spreading awareness about the menstrual cycle and the necessary requirements during this period through various programs like street plays, nukkad natak, distributing sanitary kits to girls and women.
It was great to listen to her and very beautifully she expressed the role of ‘pravah’ that is the flow in ‘kriti’ that is the creation with a tagline, ‘the flow of life is beautiful’. When we wonder and say, are we really grown or developed from one cell, yes, we do and this phenomenon can be beautifully witnessed inside the womb of an expecting mother for which menstrual cycle forms the base. Hence, dear all respect your mothers, sisters and your female friends and be sensitive towards this life changing event in their lives. It does cost them a lot!
Let us remove all the taboos related to it because the process that is responsible for all the flourishing life on earth cannot be dirty or impure. Do think!
