Bathinda: 14 July, 2017: Senior police officer, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mukhwinder Singh Chhina acted as a peacemaker and successfully resolves a long pending crucial issue by bringing both the parties to a settlement by mutual understanding.
The issue is related to long pending dispute between Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Bhai Roop Chand Langar Committee over control of 161 acres of land at Bhai Rupa village in Rampur Tehsil of Bathinda.
The disputed matter was resolved on Wednesday after a successful negotiation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bathinda zone Mukhwinder Singh Chhina. Both the SGPC and the langar committee have agreed to maintain harmony. IGP Chhina lend his talents as a peacemaker to these crucial negotiations.
IGP Chhina told babushahi.com that "As per the agreement, the SGPC will take control of the land and would offer it on lease. It will provide 90% of the lease money to the langar committee, while keeping the rest of the amount”. Since the land could not be given on lease in the current financial year, the SGPC will cultivate it for which the lease money has been fixed at Rs 45 lakh. SGPC will give Rs 40.50 (90%) lakh to the langar committee said IGP Chhina.
IGP Chhina said, "The police and district administration will ensure that the accord works and that no party creates a trouble. Police will keep a regular tab over developments till everything returns to normal."
In May 2014, the clash between the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and langar committee of Bhai Roopa over 161 acres of land came to the fore as a violent clash took place between village residents and SGPC Task Force. Meanwhile, Gian Chand Bansal spokesperson of Swaraj Party appreciated the role of the district administration and efforts done by the IGP Chhina to resolve this issue. “The efforts of the police administration led IGP Chhina are laudable” he said.
