Jalandhar (Punjab), September 15, 2025: The Jalandhar Administration has roped in the Army to reinforce the vulnerable Dhussi Bundh near village Mandala Chhanna, where large-scale protective works are underway to avert a possible flood threat.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, along with ADC Jasbir Singh, SDM Shubhi Angra and DSP Onkar Singh Brar, has been camping at the site to oversee round-the-clock operations led by Rajya Sabha MP and environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. Hundreds of volunteers from the Sangat and drainage department officials are also engaged in the effort.
Dr. Aggarwal said Army deployment would provide crucial manpower and technical expertise. “Their participation will accelerate the strengthening process and ensure the bundh is safeguarded before any untoward situation arises,” he noted.
Sant Seechewal praised the “collective spirit” of the community, officials, and the Army, calling it a mission to protect lives and livelihoods.
Both officials expressed confidence that the embankment would be secured in time, assuring that the Punjab Government is mobilizing all possible resources to protect nearby villages.
