Mohali (Punjab), January 12, 2026:Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today held a major press conference in Mohali to provide detailed information about two flagship government programs: the Mukhy Mantri Health Scheme and the state’s War Against Drugs initiative.
Launch Date Rescheduled
The Health Minister announced that the Mukhy Mantri Health Scheme, initially scheduled for launch on January 15, will now be launched on January 22. The change in schedule comes after the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was summoned by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Pilot Project to Begin
As part of the preparatory rollout, pilot projects will commence from tomorrow at eight locations in Mohali district. On the official launch date, January 22, special health camps will be set up at 274 locations across the state, covering all wards, community hospitals, and district hospitals.
Coordination and Oversight
To ensure smooth implementation, the government has mobilized its entire machinery for coordination. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) will serve as nodal officers, while Deputy Medical Commissioners and Civil Surgeons will act as coordinators. District Managers of Common Service Centers (CSCs) will also assist in the program’s execution.
On-the-Spot Treatment and Cards
Dr. Balveer Singh emphasized that patients requiring immediate treatment can directly approach hospitals, where health cards will be issued on the spot, and treatment will commence immediately. He added that public enthusiasm for the scheme has been high, with citizens looking forward to this new initiative following the success of the Common Man Clinics.
