Centre announces key bureaucratic appointments; Details Inside

New Delhi, April 10, 2026:
The Centre on Friday issued a fresh set of appointment orders, clearly outlining postings of officers from various civil services, including IPS, IRS, IA&AS, IRSEE and IFS, while no Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer featured in this round.
Among the appointments, Deepak Barnwal (Indian Police Service) has been posted as Deputy Inspector General in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Similarly, Adarsh Sidhu (IPS) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Border Security Force (BSF).
In another key IPS-level move, Princee Rani (IPS), currently Inspector General in the National Security Guard (NSG), has been appointed as Inspector General in BSF on a lateral shift basis till February 5, 2029.
From the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Shobhit Gupta has been prematurely repatriated from his post as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation to his parent cadre on personal grounds, with an extended cooling-off period.
In the financial and audit services, Sunil Kumar Sharma (Indian Audit and Accounts Service) has been selected for appointment as Chief Accounts Officer (Deputy Secretary level) in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Principal Bench, for a period of four years.
Meanwhile, Gautam Thapliyal (Indian Revenue Service – Customs & Indirect Taxes) has been appointed as Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary level) at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, for a tenure up to December 10, 2027.
On the diplomatic front, Pranay Verma (Indian Foreign Service), currently serving as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Belgium and the European Union.
