Chandigarh, April 23, 2025: The National Silk Expo is back in Chandigarh with a vibrant showcase of India’s finest handloom traditions. Organized by the Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti, the 6-day exhibition is being held at Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28-B from April 23 to 28, open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Entry is free.
The Expo brings together over 150 master weavers and artisans from 14 handloom-rich states including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Bihar, Odisha, and more.
Visitors can shop from an incredible selection of over 1,50,000 handloom products, ranging from silk and cotton sarees, kurtis, designer dresses, dress materials, home linen, to fashion jewelry—perfect for the upcoming wedding and summer season.
This year’s highlight includes exclusive collections of Pochampally, Ikkat, Kanjiwaram, Tussar, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Gadwal, Madhubani prints, and the luxurious Assam Munga silk—all at discounts of up to 50%. Prices range from affordable daily wear to exquisite bridal ensembles, making it a one-stop destination for every wardrobe.
Founded by a collective of artisans, designers, and activists, Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti aims to empower rural weavers by providing them with a direct market—eliminating middlemen and making premium handlooms accessible to all.
.“The idea is not just to sell sarees, but to tell stories,” says Jayesh Kumar Gupta, organizer of the Expo. “Each weave reflects tradition, culture, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.”
More than just a shopping event, the National Silk Expo offers visitors a glimpse into India’s rich textile legacy. Whether you’re looking to make a style statement this summer or add a touch of tradition to your festive wear, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
