New Delhi, September 23, 2025 – The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is all set to launch a new and advanced Aadhaar Mobile App, aimed at making Aadhaar-linked services more secure and user-friendly.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvneshwar Kumar confirmed that the app will be rolled out for the public within the next two to three months, with testing already completed.
No More Photocopies – Digital Sharing Enabled
The highlight of the new app is its Digital Identity Sharing feature. Instead of submitting photocopies of Aadhaar cards, users will now be able to share their identity digitally with consent, reducing paperwork and enhancing data security.
Mobile Number Update Not Allowed via App
Kumar clarified that sensitive details like mobile number updates cannot be done through the app. For security reasons, users will still need to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras and undergo biometric verification to update their registered mobile number.
QR Code to Detect Fake Aadhaar Cards
The new app will also help in spotting fake Aadhaar cards. By scanning the QR code printed on the Aadhaar card, anyone can instantly verify its authenticity.
This digital innovation is expected to significantly boost convenience, reduce fraud, and strengthen India’s Digital India mission, benefiting millions of Aadhaar holders across the country.
