1.18 Lakh MT wheat procured in Ferozepur; ₹100.67 Crore paid directly to farmers’ accounts
ADC reviews wheat procurement arrangements in Ferozepur mandis
Ferozepur, April 19, 2025: A day after the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) inspected procurement centers, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambha visited various grain markets across the district to review wheat procurement arrangements. During her visit, she interacted with farmers, commission agents, and labourers to listen to their issues and ensure smooth procurement operations.
Dr. Bambha informed that till last evening, 1.29 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the district mandis, out of which 1.18 lakh metric tonnes (around 91% of total arrival) had already been procured.
Dr. Bambha visited the Ferozepur City grain market, Bagge Ke Pipal, and Saddu Shah, stating that all procurement arrangements in the district are in place. She assured that no inconvenience would be caused to farmers, traders, or labourers. She also mentioned that due to sudden changes in weather, some temporary challenges arose, but appropriate instructions have been issued for arranging tarpaulins and shelter.
She emphasized that under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Deepshikha Sharma, regular inspections by officials are being carried out to address any concerns promptly.
ADC added that among the total procurement, PUNGRAIN purchased 25,179 MT, MARKFED 40,958 MT, PUNSUP 24,991 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 26,613 MT, and private traders 400 MT. A total payment of ₹100.67 crore has been directly credited to the bank accounts of farmers.
On this occasion, District Food and Supply Controller Himanshu Kukkar and District Mandi Officer Jasmeet Singh Brar were also present.
