Chandigarh/Amritsar, September 25, 2025: In an intelligence‑led operation, Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a cross‑border narcotics and arms network, arresting six operatives and seizing 4.03 kg heroin along with two pistols, including a Glock 9 mm and a .30‑bore, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.
According to the DGP, preliminary probe indicates the accused were in touch with a Pakistan‑based handler identified as Shah through social media, and were receiving drone‑dropped consignments of heroin and weapons in the Khemkaran and Ferozepur sectors for onward supply in the Amritsar area.
Those arrested have been identified as Jagir Singh alias Sucha (35), Angrej Singh (20), Gurpreet Singh (30), Palwinder Singh (35), Lakhwinder Singh alias Lucky (24), and Baljinder Singh (42), residents of Ferozepur and Tarn Taran districts. Police said the operation began with the arrest of cousins Jagir and Angrej, who run a dhaba in Ferozepur, from whom 220 g heroin and a Glock were recovered.
On their disclosure, Gurpreet, Palwinder, Lakhwinder, and Baljinder were apprehended. Subsequent recoveries included 2.813 kg heroin and a .30‑bore pistol from Jagir, Palwinder, and Gurpreet, while further interrogation of Lakhwinder and Baljinder yielded an additional 1 kg heroin, taking the total contraband to 4.03 kg.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said more arrests and recoveries are likely as teams work to map the module’s backward and forward linkages. An FIR (No. 286 dated 21.09.2025) has been registered under Sections 21(b)(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 25(1) of the Arms Act at Police Station Gate Islamabad, Amritsar.
