BSF foils multiple smuggling attempts; seizes 7 heroin packets weighing over 4 kg, nabs 5 smugglers in 3 border districts
Ferozepur, September 11, 2025: In the last 24 hours, the BSF has apprehended five smugglers and seized seven packets of heroin, weighing a total of 4.22 kg, in multiple operations along the Punjab border.
Yesterday, acting on a specific input from the BSF intelligence wing, a joint operation was conducted with the Special Cell Amritsar in the area near Village Jagdev Khurd, Amritsar. During the operation, one smuggler was apprehended with three packets of heroin (gross weight: 1.433 kg), a motorcycle, and a mobile phone. The accused, a resident of Village Ballarwal, has been handed over to the Special Cell Amritsar for further investigation.
In a second operation during night hours, based on specific information, BSF troops recovered three packets of heroin (gross weight: 1.658 kg) from the general area of Village Pala Megha, Ferozepur.
In another operation on the Amritsar border at night, while tracking the movement of a suspected flying object at two different locations, BSF recovered one packet of heroin (gross weight: 578 grams) near Village Mahawa, Amritsar. Following another drone intrusion the same night, BSF troops apprehended a suspected smuggler in the depth area of Village Khemkaran, Tarn Taran. He was handed over to Punjab Police for further investigation.
In yet another operation during the morning hours, while tracking a suspected flying object on the Amritsar border, BSF apprehended three smugglers and recovered one packet of heroin (gross weight: 553 grams) near Village Atalgarh, Amritsar. The three smugglers were also handed over to Punjab Police for further investigation.
These apprehensions of narco-smugglers, along with the recovery of narcotics, demonstrate the professional competence and vigilance of BSF troops, who remain committed to securing the nation’s borders and curbing cross-border smuggling activities.
