Chandigarh, 2 October 2025:
Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian announced that over 85,000 in-situ and ex-situ Crop Residue Management (CRM) machines have been mapped on the Unnat Kisan mobile app to improve access for small and marginal farmers and curb stubble burning.
The app enables farmers to book CRM machines from their phones, with every machine geo-tagged to cultivated areas for transparent monitoring and documentation of residue management activities.
A support ecosystem of over 5,000 Village Level Facilitators and Cluster Officers will assist farmers on ground, monitor activities, and ensure inclusion, while private machine owners can also register their equipment on the platform; VLFs can book machines on behalf of farmers where needed.
The app’s real-time dashboard tracks machine utilisation and field operations to strengthen accountability, expedite issue resolution, and optimise deployment during harvest peaks, enhancing overall efficiency of crop residue management.
Urging widespread adoption, Khudian said the farmer-centric platform has made access to CRM machinery efficient, transparent, and inclusive by enabling bookings from nearby Custom Hiring Centres and private owners, supporting the Mann government’s environmental and agricultural sustainability goals.
Administrative Secretary Dr Basant Garg praised the app’s role in advancing sustainable practices and affirmed continued efforts to build on its digital foundation for sector-wide progress.
