Canada Big Breaking: Firing at Kapil Sharma's Cafe in Surrey

Surrey (Canada), July 10, 2025: In a shocking incident, Kapil Sharma’s newly opened restaurant, KAP'S CAFÉ, located at 84 Avenue and 12th Street in Surrey, British Columbia, came under a violent gun attack late on July 9.
According to local sources, 8 to 9 bullets were fired using an automatic pistol at the establishment, just days after it was inaugurated quietly in a soft launch attended by Kapil and his wife Ginni Chatrath.
What initially seemed like an isolated incident has now taken a serious turn with Harjit Singh Laddi, a wanted terrorist and BKI (Babbar Khalsa International) operative listed by the NIA in India, claiming responsibility.
In a video shared online, Laddi alleged that the attack was triggered by remarks Kapil Sharma allegedly made against Nihang Sikhs during one of his comedy shows.
Although the video did not explicitly mention BKI, Laddi and another individual named Toofan Singh warned Sharma to issue a public apology, failing which "the matter could escalate further."
The duo also claimed that repeated attempts were made to contact Kapil Sharma’s manager, which were ignored — prompting them to carry out this act to “get his attention.”
Terror Angle and Criminal Background
Harjit Singh Laddi, along with Kulbir Singh Sidhu, has been linked to multiple extortion, murder, and gang-related activities in Canada and India, including the 2024 murder of a BSP leader in Punjab’s Nangal. Both men operate under the cover of BKI and have been accused of several targeted killings and attempted assassinations.
The Canadian cities of Surrey and Brampton have witnessed a surge in such gang-terror linked attacks in recent months. This incident further amplifies concerns over rising violence and cross-border terrorism.
No Extortion Demands This Time
Unlike past shootings often driven by extortion, this incident appears ideological.
The attackers claim they weren’t demanding money but were "offended" by what they termed as "insulting comments" made by Sharma about the Nihang community.
The exact content or context of those remarks remains unclear. However, some sources speculate it may relate to a past episode on Netflix or a live show where community sentiments may have been unintentionally hurt.
Earlier this year, Baba Balbir Singh, a Nihang leader, had reportedly expressed objection to some content in a Kapil Sharma segment, but it’s yet to be confirmed whether this is linked.
