Chandigarh, October 16: In a major relief to Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) allottees, the Chandigarh Administration has permitted the installation of rooftop solar photovoltaic (SPV) systems on all CHB dwelling units without requiring prior approval or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Housing Board.
According to an order issued by Hiradak Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board, the decision has been taken with the approval of the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, and will come into immediate effect.
The order states that allottees can install rooftop solar systems strictly in accordance with the guidelines of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) through CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society).
The order, issued in supersession of all previous orders in this regard, is expected to simplify the process for CHB residents seeking to adopt solar energy and benefit from the government’s rooftop solar scheme.
