Chandigarh issues Do’s and Don’ts for public safety during Sirens

Chandigarh, May 9, 2025 — Amid heightened security concerns, the Chandigarh Administration has released detailed safety guidelines for the public in case air raid sirens are sounded.
The advisory urges residents to stay indoors, avoid balconies and rooftops, and seek shelter in nearby buildings or underground spaces if caught outside.
Those in vehicles are advised to park and take cover.At night, additional precautions include switching off all lights, drawing thick curtains to prevent light leakage, turning off automatic generators or solar-powered lights, and avoiding the use of mobile phones or flashlights in open areas.
The siren system will signal a 5-minute alert when active and a 1-minute siren once the alert is over. For emergencies, residents can call 112.
The advisory, issued by the Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, emphasizes strict compliance to ensure public safety during this tense period.
