Patiala (Punjab), December 9, 2025: Major chaos erupted in Patiala’s Bansa Wala Bazaar on Tuesday during the shooting of Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film. Local shopkeepers staged a strong protest against the police and the film unit, alleging that the entire market was sealed without any prior notice and their shop signboards were tampered with, causing them severe inconvenience.
Shopkeepers claimed that the Kotwali police put up barricades before 9 AM. When they reached around 9:30 AM to open their shops, the police did not allow them to enter the market.
The entire market remained shut during the shoot, preventing shops from opening and blocking customer access.
Traders alleged that the market is private property, yet no one sought permission from them before beginning the shoot. They claimed that shutting down the market suddenly caused them financial loss, and the administration ignored their concerns.
The biggest trigger for the protest was the replacement of original signboards.
Shopkeepers alleged that the film crew:
- Tore down or covered their actual boards
- Installed new signboards written in Urdu for the film scene
- Altered the appearance of shops without consent
When shopkeepers questioned the move, the police reportedly said it was required for the film and would be removed after the shoot.
Shopkeepers also objected to film crew members climbing onto their rooftops without consent, calling it unsafe and inappropriate. Amid the chaos, Diljit Dosanjh finished his shot and left the location.
The actor’s new film is being shot across several heritage locations in Patiala. Earlier, multiple scenes were filmed at the historic Qila Mubarak. The title of the film has not yet been officially revealed.
