DLSA marks World Environment Day with plantation drive
Ferozepur, June 5, 2025: In compliance with the directives of the Member Secretary of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar Mohali, the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur, Sumit Malhotra, led the celebration of World Environment Day today at the District Courts complex, Ferozepur.

On this occasion, District and Sessions Judge Sumit Malhotra provided two saplings to each judicial officer with the instructions to plant them at or near their residences and ensure their proper care and maintenance.
Addressing the press, Sessions Judge Malhotra conveyed a message to the public urging them to actively plant trees to help keep the environment clean and healthy. He highlighted the rapid and indiscriminate cutting of trees for new roads and highways, which is causing severe environmental issues such as increased temperatures and oxygen depletion. He emphasised the collective responsibility to protect the environment.
Further, he also shared that a campaign has been launched to promote plantation activities in collaboration with panel advocates, para-legal volunteers, and the Forest Department. Under this campaign, saplings will be planted and cared for in various locations, including villages and towns across the district.
Besides, the District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur, marked World Environment Day at Vivekananda World School, Ferozepur, by organising a plantation drive and an awareness seminar to educate students about environmental conservation.
