Ferozepur Railway Division launches special drive to promote plastic eradication
Ferozepur, May 24, 2026: Under the ongoing “World Environment Day” campaign being observed from May 15 to June 5, the Ferozepur Railway Division conducted a special awareness campaign on May 23 and 24 to promote the eradication of plastic use and encourage environmental consciousness among rail users.
As part of the campaign, several awareness and cleanliness activities were organised at different railway stations across the division to discourage the use of single-use plastic. The functioning of plastic bottle crushing machines installed at stations was inspected to ensure proper disposal and recycling of plastic waste.
A special inspection drive was also carried out at catering stalls located on railway premises to check compliance with the ban on single-use plastic. Vendors were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives, while banners were displayed and pamphlets distributed to spread awareness among passengers.
In addition, cleanliness and proper functioning of drinking water facilities at railway stations were ensured. Passengers were motivated to refill and reuse their water bottles in an effort to reduce the consumption of plastic bottles.
The Ferozepur Railway Division reiterated its commitment towards environmental protection, cleanliness, and sustainable development through such initiatives.
